The Advanced Decision-Making in Vestibular Medicine: Algorithms & Heuristics Online Bootcamp is a novel approach for translating clinical vestibular knowledge to practice and applying it to complex clinical scenarios using precision-driven care plans. You've successfully completed a vestibular rehabilitation certification course and now have a strong foundation and deep understanding of dizziness and balance disorders.

You've demonstrated your commitment to your profession and are consistently applying your knowledge to real-life practice. More often than not, however, we are talking to our colleagues about complex clinical scenarios, not predictable ones. This bootcamp is designed to help problem-solve these multi-factorial and complex patient scenarios.

As a team, we will present and problem-solve multi-factorial and complex patient scenarios.

During this collaborative, interactive, online course, you'll have access to the expertise of faculty and other participants from around the globe.

Expect to be challenged in completing real-world application and contribute your expertise as a vestibular specialist.

Participants will be solving complicated case studies by working through algorithms and heuristics for vestibular medicine application.

Discussion - You’ll work on class exercises and projects to put classroom teachings into practice. Please note: all sessions will be available in the bootcamp hub so you can jump in when your schedule allows.

Project Work - Instructor-guided team exercises to problem-solve multi-factorial and complex patient scenarios.

Algorithms & Heuristics - Final Project - Students will work in small groups to leverage the skills and techniques shared throughout the course in this final project through the utilization of the VestMed Algorithms & Heuristics Clinical Resource Guide, which every graduate will receive.

Our curriculum is designed to build on your deep foundation in vestibular education and training and expand your skills in the field of vestibular medicine.

You’ll have access to informative online lectures, participate in a variety of exercises and project work. The curriculum emphasizes a one-day, in-depth exploratory live (in-person or virtual) lab to practice the skills and abilities in vestibular medicine clinical decision-making. If you can not make the upcoming lab in June, you can attend the next lab in December.

Upon completion of the bootcamp, you'll gain access to the VestMed Clinical Practice Algorithms & Heuristics - a multidisciplinary best practices resource to assist you in vestibular medicine clinical decision-making.

You can start the bootcamp at any time - watch the lectures and complete the team exercises on your time.

We also added a new feature: “Bootcamp Chat” - where you can chat in real time with course instructors and other participants to get your questions answered faster!

introducing

We are honored to announce the expert panelists and course contributors for the Advanced Decision-Making in Vestibular Medicine Algorithms and Heuristics Online Bootcamp

  • a discussion on a holistic approach beyond clinical thinking that also includes: critical self-care (taking care of ourselves), critical empathy (recognizing co-existing psychological and physical stressors of our patients), and critical engagement (effectively communicating with our patients, our peers, etc.)
  • a deeper look into identifying psychological stressors and steps to support psychologically informed clinical practice
  • a review and update on vestibular diagnostics (including audiograms) and the correlations with vestibular therapy
  • an update on cervical, vision, and vestibular-related assessments and therapy interventions
  • a discussion on how to address short-comings in vestibular medicine and future opportunities

Throughout the bootcamp, you'll have access to live lectures with a variety of team exercises. These sessions will be recorded for later viewing due to participants based in different time zones. Participants will also be required to contribute to a discussion board in 360NeuroGO regarding vestibular-related topics posed by various faculty members.

During the 1-day lab, an overview of the agenda is as follows:
  • 3 hours of problem-solving case studies as a group
  • break for lunch
  • return for groups to present their case studies to an expert panel (neurotologist, neurologist, audiologist, physical therapist) -- groups will be chosen randomly - this will last for 2 hours
  • a short break followed by role-playing with a psychologist on considerations of how to address and support patients that exhibit hypervigilance/catastrophization -- approximately 1 hour
  • finish with an open discussion on creating algorithms and heuristics (practice guidelines) that we can take back and implement in our practice

The pre-lab content will include the following:

  • Certificate of Competency in Vestibular Rehabilitation (CCVR) Course - 360 Neuro Health Institute
  • Vestibular Rehabilitation: A Competency-Based Course - Emory University School of Medicine | Division of Physical Therapy
  • Advanced Vestibular Physical Therapist Certificate Program - University of Pittsburgh Department of Physical Therapy
  • Vestibular Rehabilitation Certification - American Institute of Balance Certification Workshops

If you have not completed a certificate of competency program, but have notable experience and want to attend, please email us at info@360neurohealth.com.

The Decision-Making in Vestibular Medicine: Algorithms & Heuristics program is for a graduate of a vestibular certificate program including, but not limited to, the following:
