Day 1 is a half-day interactive workshop that focuses on laying a solid groundwork for assessing and treating cervical-thoracic and rib dysfunction as it relates to dizziness, balance, posture, headaches, and eye alignment.
Day 2 continues with an expert-led exploration of current trends and research for visual-vestibular disorders, including updates on BPPV, 3PD, MdDS, concussion, functional movement disorders, dizziness in the acute care setting, and more!
This group discussion is followed by a hands-on lab for differentiating oculomotor cranial nerve involvement versus skew deviation versus pathological ocular tilt reaction along with other valuable clinical tips and tricks to add to your toolbox.
APPLY CLINICAL REASONING SKILLS THROUGH HANDS-ON WORKSHOP
Describe anatomical structures of the cervical-thoracic spine and ribs, including normal and abnormal biomechanics.
Perform cervical, cervical-thoracic joint, and upper rib assessments.
Apply appropriate joint mobilization and muscle-energy techniques based on dysfunction.
Identify global trends and novel approaches in vestibular medicine, including BPPV, dizziness in the acute care setting, concussion management, and canal dehiscence.
Recognize key characteristics to differentiate oculomotor cranial nerve palsies, skew deviation, and pathological ocular tilt reaction (OTR).
Identify diagnostic criteria for a variety of vestibular-related disorders and disease processes.
Classify the various types of nystagmus based on key characteristics.
Describe current trends in visual-vestibular rehab strategies, including multi-factorial imbalance, 3PD, MdDS, and central disorders.
Recognize the critical role of eye movements in patients grappling with emotional distress from dizziness and balance disorders.
Identify eye movements within the treatment session as a powerful tool to decrease anxiety and distress.
Implement treatment strategies when patients exhibit perseverating, ruminating, and catastrophizing behaviors.
Problem-solve complex cases through an interactive group collaboration to develop patient care plans.

Next, participants will explore the role of eye movements in patients facing dysfunctions - be it physical or emotional distress. The course ends by navigating complex cases through collaborative think tanks with participants and course faculty.

As you can see, this event goes beyond the basics -- by addressing the sequela of multi-system involvement in those patients with persisting dizziness, visual symptoms, and a psychological component.
